StoryBoard
We did a few test shots for the interviews. These were taken on a phone and the illusion of a shallow depth of field was added by using lens blur in photoshop.
We did this first test shot and decided that we liked the look of the interviewee on the left hand side of the shot and we decided to do a medium shot.
To keep it interesting we are going to flick in-between the side shot and a front facing shot

However in this side on shot, we decided it looked better if the interviewee faces their head toward the part of the shot that is open (e.g. like in the first side on shot and not the one above)

Steven Spielberg and Autor Theory.

Steven Spielberg is classed as an author director, We can see this through him having a favour of shots.

Spielberg is a huge fan of tracking shots. He uses these in many films.

.
He uses this style of tracking to show a significant moment in a characters story.

He also uses Side tracking a lot in his films too!
This shot creates a lot of visual texture in the film creating a more interesting moment in the film.

Spielberg also frames objects through strange foreground images for example:

Using this shot creates avery intimate feel to the audience as if spying on the character. Continuing the framing spielberg also likes to frame things in circles.
Another thing Spielberg uses is the power of mirrors to create the power of a character for example:

Recurring Themes

A recurring theme for Spielberg is family and the destruction. Because his mother and father got divorced when he was young his mother and 2 sisters moved away while he went to high school.

He also always recurses something back to world war 2
On screen performers usually stare at something off screen
He often uses images of the sun.
He often references to disney films, music and theme parks.

Recurring cast and crew.
Spielberg has produced 138 films and directed 50!
He frequently casts: Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, Frank Welker and Richard Dreyfus.
His films are almost always edited by Michael Kahn
And he frequently uses music by John Williams

After Effects Castles

Today we created set extensions, We firstly imported the film of the man walking and then the other elements i.e.: the castles we then created a new composition based on the settings of the clips. We then switched the worskapce to tracker. We used to tracking points they where set up so the first fell off the screen and the second one could take over. We set both tracks to null layers. We then made a new null layer and parented it to the first.

We moved forward to frame 178 which is as far as the man walks forward. we then exported a still frame and imported into photoshop. We scaled the photo down we removed the castle background by using the colour range option. We then duplicated the grass and feathering the edges to make it look more natural. we then duplicated the castles and made them get smaller with perspective.

We precomposed the elements and blended them into the scene using the hue, saturation and curves. We finished it off with an adjustment layer and added a photo filter so it looked all the same colour.
