Developing your own soundtracks
1) Uncomfortable, Creepy, Hopeful, disturbing.
2) The sound track for my film will help explain my story by creating tension when it can't be shown only through words. It will build up a sense of uneasiness in the audience as the watch the film. It will help to convey the emotions and the sense of feeling i want to portray to the audience, It should show the audience how they should be feeling while keeping a constant theme throughout the film.
3)
Uncomfortable feeling.
Live sound
I will create this feeling because of the very little sound in the surrounding area that i am filming in. The only sound you will be able to hear is the sound of the birds and the uncomfortable silence.
Adr/Foley/SFX
I won't be using any of these elements to create this feeling as i feel that the silence and the atmosphere of the place of filming will create that its self.
Music
The music made for the film will have a very uncomfortable undertone. Which will help create the atmosphere throughout the film until the end.
Ambience/ soundscapes.
The ambience and soundscapes for the film all have come from the live recording because of the sounds while filming that where created.
Creepy feeling
Live sound
The live sound isn't very creepy, its a very fresh sound because of the outdoor environment.
ADR/Foley/SFX
I haven't added any of these elements again because i plan on obtaining this feeling from the music.
Music
I have created this sound with the use of an uncomfortable clang, This creates a creepy and uncomfortable feeling in the viewer. I will also place an underlying noise that sounds creepy with the tone of the instruments.
Ambience/Sound scapes
I haven't added in any sound scales and the ambience is created through the use of the music throughout the film .
Hopeful
Live Sound
The live sound from the film will also be very hopeful wight he sound of bird song meaning life and resolve hearing this throughout the film should create a hopeful feeling in the viewer, hoping there is some resolve throughout the ending of the film.
ADR/Foley/SFX
I will add in some bird song if none is attained on the day of film, I believe this will help create a hopeful atmosphere
Music
The music for the final stages of film will increase in hopefulness it will try and resolve the issues posed to the characters in the film, It will have an upbeat tune and will increase as time goes on.
Ambience/Soundscapes
The soundscape for this section will solely realie on the bird song. The ambience will be created with the use of music in the final stages of the film.
Disturbing
Live sound
The silence made from the live recording should make a disturbing moment, i would like to create this with the use of silence and no sound track
ADR/FOLEY/SFX
I may add in some white noise to help create this feeling of dead silence and to give it an undertone so the noise feels uncomfortable and worrying
Music
The music to create this will use a lot of violins and piano, I feel these 2 instruments will help create the mood and add too the emotions the viewers will feel when watching these sections of the film.
Ambience and Soundscapes
The ambience will be created using silence and the only soundscape i plan on adding could be white noise.

Case study- Formats
Compression
Lossy
Lossy compression works on the bases of removing the unnecessary bits of information, By this it means that if you film a person on a certain background it will register that the back ground will stay the same, Meaning it will only need to capture the moving object in the foreground meaning it is quicker than lossless compression. With lossy compression you can't get the original file back after it has been compressed. You are now stuck with the compressions programmes re interpretation of the original. Meaning you can't use this for something that needs be reproduced exactly.
Lossless
Lossless compression allows you to recreate the original file exactly. The idea of lossless compression is based on the idea of breaking the file in a a smaller form for transmission or storage and then putting it back together on the other end so it can be used again. For example if a file has a blue sky mod of the individual pixels are a little bit different. To make this picture smaller without compromising the resolution you have to change the colour value for some pixels. If the file has a lot of blue sky it would pick one colour of the blue and that could be used for every pixel. It re-writes the programme so the value of every pixel refers back to that value.
Video Files
.MPG
Also known as a MPEG stands for the moving picture experts group. Files with .mpg extensions often contain movies used over the internet. The videos contained within the .mpg files are compressed video files. These files allow users to download the files more quickly without sacrificing much of the picture quality. This file could be used for anything internet based, including viral marketing and email attachments.
.MP4
A MP4 file format is the file moray that most websites use to store digital audio and video steams. The name is short for MPEG-4. MP4 files are often used to store digital media on computers, mobile devices and remote hard drives. The files commonly stored in the MP4 file format are usually audio files, video files and pictures. Many of todays portable devices used the MP4 format to plat movies and videos on the go. For example smart phones and streaming media.
.MOV
The .Mov file format is often used to save movie files and video clips to a users hard drive or other media device. It is the file extension used by the QuickTime media software that is distributed by apple. Files that are save in .Mov format are compressed making it easier to download and stream. Many of the movies and videos that are available on the internet are .mov files.
.AVI
Also known as Audio Video Interleave. The .avi file is a container file format. Container files are a shell file that contains a variety of files within. container files with the .avi extension often contain audio and video data. The data contained in one of these files may be encoded, allowing the files to use less compression the other file formats. However this file format has a 2GB size limit restricting the use of them.
.WMV
WMV stands for Windows Media Video. A .wmv file is a compressed video format that Microsoft developed for the internet. Many videos found online are in .wmv format. This type of file allows for large files to be converted to smaller files while still protecting the quality of the video. This keeps the file size manageable without loosing picture quality. When a .wmv file is played it decompresses the file reader white is is being played back.
.FLV
A .flv file stands for Flash live video. This file format is used to deliver video content over the internet to a user's computer. The .flv format allows high rates of compression white retaining the quality. This allows the files creators to the mile sizes manageable and makes it easier for viewers to watch online. Popular websites that use this file format are; YouTube and Google Video
SWF
Also known as a Small Web Format. The .swf file format was designed to deliver graphics and animations over the internet to be viewable on a computer. Animations and graphics that are designed with the adobe software are saved in a .swf format. These files contain both text and graphics. .swf files are "end product files" for users viewing and are read only files that cannot be changed or edited.
3GP
.3GP stands for 3rd generation Partnership project. The .3gp file format is a multimedia container format that is often used for 3G-enabled mobile phones. The 3gp file is a mobile friendly version of the .MP4 files that are popular for desktop use. The 3gp format was developed to make file sizes smaller so that they would use less bandwidth, making it easier to stream videos and music to phones.
ASF
.asf stands for Advanced Streaming Format. The .asf format is not a file is and of itself, but rather a file container format. file with the .asf extension contain three different objects including a header file, a data object and a optional index object. the header contains information about the media data. the data object is the actual media stream the file contains. of optional index allows for random access to data within the file.
File Sizes
Resolution
The display resolution of a television is the number of pixels in each dimension that can be displayed. It is usually quoted as "width x height" with the units in pixels: for example. "1024x768" means the width of pixels is 1024 and the height is 768.
Data rate
Also known as a Data Transfer Rate, this covers both internal rate (moving data between the disk surface and the controller drive) and the external rate.
Frame Rate
Also known as frame frequency and frames per second (fps) this is the frequency rate at which an imaging device produces consecutive (one after the other) images called frames. Frame rate is often spoken about in frames per second (fps) and is also expressed in progressive scan monitors as hertz (Hz) Key frame rate
A key frame rate is a point that defines the starting and ending points of any smooth transition. A sequence of key frames define which movement the viewer will see.
Aspect Ratio
The aspect ratio of an image describes the proportional relationship between its width and its height
4:3
This is the standard size for the 20th century. It's the universal format. 16:9
This is the size for the universal high definition TV and European digital television.
Media Players
Flash Player
Adobe flash player is a software for viewing multimedia and streaming video and audio. It can run on the web and on mobile devices. But some version must run on an operating system. It is commonly used to run games and animations that are found on webpages.
Quick Time
This is a media player it was created by Apple that plays QuickTime files. You can convert files using the pro version of the software and also edit and create things. You can watch videos from camera, phones, mac and or PC.
Windows Media Player
This was created by Microsoft, it can be used for playing audio video and viewing images. It can also be used to rip and burn things from and to a CD, The latest version was released in 2009.
Real Media
This is a cross platform software it is used to play recorded media. It runs MP3, MPEG, QUICKTIME, WINDOWS MEDIA and their own RealVideo and RealAudio Formats.
